Dragon Boat racing has a long history in Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands with the first Dragon Boat competitions held over 200 years ago.

Today, the sport of Dragon Boating is one of the fastest growing water sports in Australia. With crews of 20 paddlers plus a drummer and a sweep, teams comprise of men and women of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

A Dragon Boat is a human powered boat made traditionally from wood to various sizes and designs. During competitions the boats are decorated with the traditional Chinese dragon heads and tails but at other times these are removed.
